I have been on a blog vacation lately as you all may have noticed. Time to get back in the grove...
Ellie and Harrison are doing well. Lately when I call for Harrison ("come here, handsome/cutie/little man/my boy/wild child"...you get the idea) he says "no, I'm a robot!". I'm not sure where he was exposed to robots but it's funny to hear him say it (robot comes out more like "woa-bob"; I'm not going to admit how long it took me to finally figure out that he was saying robot).
Yesterday I bought a rug for Harrison's room and the kids went wacko. Forget Disneyland, just get an area rug. They danced around on for half an hour. Harrison was so excited to have a new rug and said that now when he got diaper changes on his floor (which doesn't happen often) it wouldn't be cold. He immediately ran into the playroom, closed the door, and proceeded to do his business. He came into me and pronounced, "Harrison pooped! Change my diaper on the new rug!". I swear, when that kid puts his mind to it, he can do anything.
Ellie continues to amaze us with her vocabulary. She will occasionally use her name but it's rare. I bought her new Elmo jammies and when I dressed her in them last night, she pointed to Elmo and said "Melmo". Gosh, I didn't even realize she knew who Elmo was. She jumped for the first time a couple of weeks ago but hasn't been able to do it again since (although she keeps trying).
I finally put my food storage and fabric stash to good use on Saturday and made the kids some bean bags. They love them! Josh and the kids have come up with some fun games. Ellie gets so excited about throwing that she seldom is able to aim and they end up on the ground at her feet.
I am less than thrilled with the airline industry right now. Delta switched our flights from non-stop flights at decent times to ones with layovers at obscene early times. And if that wasn't frustrating enough, the airline we booked our California to Hawaii tickets with went bankrupt about a week ago. So now we are out a bunch of money and have to swim to Hawaii (and did I mention flights to Hawaii for May/June have gone up $250+ since we booked our flights in January?). I am not a fan of bankruptcy right now either. I guess now is as good a time as any to reenact the Mormon pioneer trek with our kids and make our way from Boston to California on foot with our covered wagon (that will teach them to be more grateful for modern transportation/shoes/macaroni and cheese).
