I know it has been over a week since I wrote last and I can only imagine how many people have been anxiously waiting for a new installment of the Cameron Family blog. So in an effort to appease the masses, here goes...
Today we went to a playgroup hosted by our ward. We met at a park in Arlington and Harrison spent the majority of the time making "sandcastles". I'm not sure if I would call the mound of dirt he constructed a castle (granted, it's hard to do sophisticated architecture with no binding solution aka water). He wouldn't sit in the sand though, he sat on the grass on the edge of the sand and was comfortable not getting too dirty. Ellie swung her heart out and tried to jump out of the sling on my hip into the sand but I forbade it. I bribed Harrison with a balloon at Trader Joe's if we could leave at the end of the experience in relative peace. My plan would have worked but Trader Joe's was out of balloons! Nooo! Do you think I should write to corporate and complain or just file a lawsuit immediately? Harrison had a full-on melt down especially since I was cutting it close to nap time. Ahh, the joys of toddlerhood.
Harrison's hand control is realy improving. Two days ago we braved watercolors for the first time. He did great. He can draw and paint strait lines, circles, and now H's and T's. I'll post pictures of his artwork soon.
Ellie is officially on the move. She isn't doing a traditional crawl on her hands and knees but can get anywhere and into everything. She uses her hands, right knee, and launches off with her left foot. Last night she was in the kitchen with Josh while he was doing dishes and next thing we knew she was halfway down the hall after some toys (about 10 feet away). Harrison loves that his little sister can play with him and follow him around.
Harrison is mourning the loss of his Uncle Travis who flew home to Hawaii yesterday. He asked for Travis to come in to eat lunch with us yesterday and every time he hears a door-like noise asks if Travis is home.
I have been busy sewing for a local designer by way of Israel and for Josh's grandmother's company Natural Grandma's (hence the blog hiatus). I'm not sure if I will continue with local designer work; the pay isn't great and ribbed knit has become a four-letter word around here.
We had to lower Ellie's crib to it's lowest setting yesterday (we should have done it weeks ago but oh well). When we lay her down to sleep she often sits or stands up and doesn't want to lay back down. It's always fun when they learn new skills...
Ahh, I almost forgot about the week's highlight. On Sunday before church we went to the LDS Boston temple which is literally next door to our church. The temple is lovely and they have done a wonderful job landscaping. Well, we sat down for a moment and I looked over at Harrison and saw a HUGE bumblebee crawling on his head (we are talking HUGE! Maybe an inch in diameter?) Travis saw it at the same time, jumped up, took his flip-flop off, and started wacking at the bee. That bug would not let go of Harrison's head though and it took 5 or more wacks before it finally fell to the ground and met it's fate. Harrison broke down in tears and I am not sure if it was because of the bee or because he couldn't figure out why his uncle who he adores was hitting him on his head with a shoe. I was terrified and laughing all at the same time. A sting from that thing would have been awful. In the end, everyone was fine and Harrison settled down as we walked back to the church. Travis said these Boston bees weren't prepared for a guy from Hawaii to visit with his "slippas" on a Sunday. He sure caught that bee off guard.
Josh is doing well at work and now has a grad student working for him. He took his turn feeding the 10,000+ fish on Saturday (twice). Everyone in the lab has to take their turn feeding the fish on the weekend every three or four months. He is now in the process of coming up with a method of feeding a billion fish mechanically so that the weekend feedings involving personal can be eliminated :)
That's all for now. Off to enjoy some TV premiers.

Oh my goodness, that was too funny about the bee (and sad, yes) but having his Uncle wack him like that I can only imagine what poor H was thinking! Trevor liked when Devin would crawl and follow him around, Devin got called "puppy" a lot after that started!
