a week in review

I think I will work backwards in hopes that my memory will return...

Monday 10/15: Harrison and I spent the morning tracing our feet, cutting them out, and putting them on the fridge. He is getting a little better with scissors but he mostly just makes grass :) (short little cuts on the edge of the paper). The weather has officially changed to fall finally and I broke down and called the oil company today. Guess how much the budget plan would be if they spread out our payments for the next nine months (based on the last person's usage)? You'll just laugh (or fall over which was closer to my reaction). Drum roll please....$330. Yeah, real "budget"-like, huh? That's just our heating. Welcome to New England :)

Sunday 10/14: We took turns sleeping in and finally went to church. Harrison has new nursery teachers and he seems to like them. Once they came into the classroom, he pushed Josh out and told him to go. I guess he doesn't have a separation anxiety problem. Ellie spent church throwing things over the back of our pew while the patient man behind us picked them up again and again and again. Harrison and Ellie spent the entire 15 minute ride home blowing raspberries at one another and it's too cute I don't even care that they are spitting at one another.

Saturday 10/13: We went to the Minute Man Trail in Lexington. We started at the visitors' center and then followed the trail for about a mile to the place where Paul Revere was captured. The walk was lovely, although a little chilly. The leaves are starting to turn and I'm sure we will have some great fall pictures within the next couple of weeks.
In addition, I am trying to teach Harrison how to spit out his toothpaste. He doesn't get it...at all. Who knew it would be this hard to teach a boy to spit.

Friday 10/12: We went to the local library to get some books and return a Calliou movie. Harrison managed to spot a Mickey Mouse VHS right off the bat; I don't know how he does it. He picked out a book on Elmo at the aquarium, good old-fashioned Pinocchio, The Postman, and a couple of Mickey Mouse DVDs.

Thursday 10/11: I took Ellie to the doctor for her well baby check-up. The doctor said she looks great in terms of her development. She was impressed when Ellie mimicked her washing her hands before the exam. She is 16 lbs 11 oz and 27 inches long. We had her tested for milk, egg, soy, and peanut allergies so we will see how the results come back. Oh, and it only cost me $20.50 to park :0 Yeah, I only had two quarters and the meters here don't take nickels or dimes so I chanced it. I was 10 minutes over my meter but I guess the meter maid came in that time. Now I have my first Mass. parking ticket. Yeah.
Harrison had a blast hanging out with Josh at work during the doctor's appointment. They played computer games, ate lunch, and watched the kids at the daycare outside of Josh's window play in the cold.

Wednesday 10/10: We finally pulled out of our colds. I went to a girls' night out with Josh's female co-workers. I had a "you're not in Kansas anymore, Toto" moment. While we were watching "Fiddler on the Roof", I looked around the room and realized I was eating Afghani food with a 2nd generation Russian Jew, Indian Christian, and Afghani born Muslim turned Atheist. It was a fun night but I didn't get home until after midnight I am getting too old for being out that late (who am I kidding, I have always been too old for being out until midnight).
