Snow

Remember how I mentioned an impending storm in my last post? Well, here are some pictures showing what an afternoon of snow can do. We got about 9 or 10 inches of snow on Thursday and nearly as much again today. And the thing about New England is the snow never melts, it just sits there getting dirtier and taller every day. We let the kids romp in the snow on Friday morning and they had a blast. Ellie loved her first sledding adventure even if it was on flat ground. Harrison made his first snow angel and loved climbing on the snow mountains daddy made while shoveling. Harrison wants to climb in the snow every time we go outside which means the bottom of his pants are wet all the time.

Harrison wore a tie to church last week and aged about 10 years. He is starting to look more and more like a big boy.

Here is a picture of Harrison trying to catch a ride with Ellie on her car. She is obviously not keen on the idea.

I managed to catch a quick shot of Ellie sleeping a couple of weeks ago; doesn't she look like an angel? And for the record, I did not put mascara, blush, or lipstick on her; she is naturally that beautiful.

Here is a picture of Ellie with her Bohemian hat on. For some reason she will leave this particular hat on for awhile before ripping it off unlike all the other things I try to put on her
head.

Harrison and Ellie had their first visit with Santa Claus on Saturday, December 8th. We had a church Christmas party in the morning and Santa stopped by. Harrison refused to stand in line with the other children and would scream "NOOO!" every time I asked him if he would like to sit on Santa's lap. Ellie was more than willing to stand in line with Josh but had a change of heart when it was her turn to sit with Santa. Josh handed her over and almost immediately she started crying, arching her back, and performing the Ellie slither (a great defense move when trying to escape attackers). I dragged Harrison up and he was a little apprehensive but agreeable. He gladly took the bag of treats Santa gave him and hurried back to me. Oddly enough, later that day we went to the mall where he spotted Santa and was eager to visit with him. Harrison was so excited this time to see Santa. He tickled his beard, gave him his Christmas list, talked to him, and gave Santa numerous hugs. We had to finally coax him off of Santa's lap after five minutes. Santa gave him some reindeer ears and a little sticker book about Santa. Just as we walked out of the Christmas Village, Harrison turned around, ran toward Santa, and snatched back his Christmas letter. I guess he doesn't quite grasp the concept of letters yet. Topping his Christmas list this year: toys for the lizard. Hmmm, we'll see if Santa remembers that one. We didn't even attempt to have Ellie sit on the mall Santa's lap after the incident that morning at church; maybe next year. The pictures are in black in white in hopes of masking that sorry looking Santa costume :)

Happy Snow Day/Week/Month/Season! It's a good thing that you have several areas inside the house for Harrison and Ellie to play in, and lots of windows to watch the snow from, 'cause you'll probably get a little more snow over the next few months. Enjoy---and then come to California!

I love these pictures. :) You really have the most adorable children, I think they could be baby models (seriously!). :) I love being able to catch up with your family on your blog. :)

Very fun! Harrison is getting so big. We didn't even attempt the Santa visit this year. Although he did stop by Mia's school and she told me she just stood by him.
