an average day

Ellie is now our pro-clapper. Two days ago, we were sitting on the couch with Ellie's Laugh and Learn Puppy (a semi-obnoxious stuffed animal toy that talks, sings songs, etc) and it started to say "Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake..." Guess what Ellie did without provocation? She started clapping! Yeah, I know she's a genius :) Good thing we live 2 miles from Harvard because I think she will be starting school there next year right after she learns to walk and potty train. Anyways, she claps all the time now and gives "5". She is starting to get up on all fours more now but hasn't made any movement once up on her hands and knees.

Harrison tried doing magic tricks tonight at the dinner table. He was holding out both of his hands with fists closed and told me to pick one. I had no idea what he was doing but cooperated. I looked at Josh and asked what in the world Harrison was doing. I guess he got this from "Caillou" (his favorite show right now). He was trying to do the hide-a-coin-behind-someone-else's-ear thing. It was hilarious.
I don't think I have mentioned that he is a puzzle pro and can do 25-30 piece regular puzzles all by himself. He has a great spatial awareness and an amazing memory.
We are trying to work on the potty training but he just won't actually do anything in the toilet. He knows he needs to go and can identify it but refuses to do it on the potty.

Potty training boys- what fun! I heard a funny tip yesterday I can pass along- throw a few cheerios in the toilet so he can have "target practice".

That's hilarious. We'll have to keep some cheerios in stock when the grandkids visit.

I've heard about the cheerio trick. Right now I would be happy if he just tried to pee ANYWHERE besides his diaper...in the toilet would just be a bonus.
