Our first blog post, August 3, 2007

Well, I always thought blogs were kind of odd but alas, here I am writing one for our family (never say never!). I thought this would be a good way to keep family and friends updated on our rather average, usually dull, lives.
So here goes...

Today we went on a walking tour hosted by Boston By Foot of some of the sites along the Freedom trail. Harrison and Ellie were great considering that the information was geared toward adults interested in history and architecture (and I really don't think that the Dunkin' Donuts donut bribe made Harrison behave any better :) We had a picnic lunch afterwards at Faneuil Hall while being entertained by some street performers from England. On the way back to the car, we discovered a farmers market where they had the cheapest produce I have ever seen. One pound of strawberries for $.50, whole pinapples for $1.50, huge cucumbers for $.20, well, you get the idea. I think we will be heading to downtown on Saturday mornings from now on just to stock up on fruits and vegetables.
Josh and I moved our dryer up to our apartment this afternoon and dragged the old one down to the garage. The one in our apartment took nearly 4 hours to dry an average load of laundry and I can only imagine what our electric bills would be if we kept that dryer. Needless to say, our backs are now both sore (did I mention we are on the 2nd floor and the garage is at the end of a looong driveway?). Oh well, at least I can do laundry now.
The weather is still horribly hot and sitting here by the computer is a good excuse to be 2 feet from the only a/c in the apartment.
Harrison and Ellie both have heat rashes that now cover what seems like half of their bodies. Harrison is constantly scratching his head and I just don't know what to do!
Unpacking is coming along but we have really lost our motivation which wouldn't be too much of a problem except our bedroom is still full of boxes and I haven't found my box of shoes. My one pair of black sandals I have been wearing for the past 2 weeks may not be sufficient when the snow starts to fall.
I will put pictures of our new place soon and some updated ones of the kids.

Love the blog 'cause it is about my kids and grandkids (refuse to use them for work!) I can't wait for your next installment.

Can't believe you guys moved those dryers alone, and can't believe you are still alive to tell the tale.

We don't have internet service yet, but I've claimed a table and chair at the nearby Starbucks and thought I'd have to take up drinking coffee--but no, they have yummy strawberry smoothies! Our phone, internet and dish (instead of cable) are to be set up Thursday. Hopefully we won't have the same problem you've had.

Kiss our babies for us.
Love,
Mom
